Focus Areas: • Advance climate-informed planning and implementation for extreme heat resilience • Elevate leadership and capacity of local CSOs as essential partners in governance • Address urban heat risks in vulnerable communities (informal settlements, outdoor work zones, low-income neighborhoods) • Leverage or scale existing work (Heat Action Plans, urban resilience strategies) • Develop robust regulatory frameworks (labor laws, health mandates, building codes)
Criteria • Must be legally registered organization able to receive grant funding from the U.S. • Must operate in lower-, lower-middle-, and middle-income countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia • Must be local organization or partner with local organizations • Must address climate vulnerabilities in urban geographical settings, especially urban informal settlements • Must demonstrate plans for collaborations with local institutions and community organizations • Projects must involve multi-stakeholder collaboration, interagency coordination, or engagement across multiple sectors • Must demonstrate inclusion of historically underserved groups and responsiveness to community priorities • Consortia are strongly encouraged; LMIC-based proposal leads strongly preferred • City leadership engagement required with letter of support at full proposal stage
