Criteria[Please check the website for criteria and application process]
• Must be a limited liability company (LLC), legally registered and physically established in Kenya • For PUE and Energy Access: Supply-side (last-mile distributors in underserved areas) or Demand-side (manufacturers aggregating produce from farmers for value addition, or companies linking smallholder farmers to markets) • For Circular Economy: Waste management companies specializing in recycling/value addition, or companies contributing to green transition for ecosystem restoration • Must demonstrate commercial viability and readiness to share risk • Technology must be beyond prototype stage but early-stage requiring upfront investment • Project activities must be completed within 24 months
Technology Scope: • Stand-alone solar systems/SHS (Pico PV systems from Tier 0.5 to Tier 2) • Solar pumping solutions and larger pumping solutions for communities/aggregators • Solar refrigerators and cold storage for aggregators • Solar driers for aggregators • E-mobility (particularly charging infrastructure) • Other pre-agreed renewable solutions within end-user price limits • Circular economy and green technologies (recycling, value addition, green transition)
Program Objectives: • Increase access to modern energy services for underserved communities • Increase access to quality productive use of energy (PUE) solutions for MSMEs and agricultural value chains • Accelerate growth of reliable and affordable e-mobility services (2 and 3-wheelers) • Transform circular economy into sustainable system emphasizing ecosystem restoration, waste recycling, and resource optimization
