The solutions should be simple enough for a coffee grower in rural Kenya or a textile manufacturer in Bangladesh to use, generate location-specific insights and practical business advice, and support nature-related reporting when their customers do require it as it becomes more mainstream in business practice.
These solutions should leverage new data tools and technologies and serve users who may not be tech-savvy or have no in-house expertise on environmental issues. The goal is to make nature intelligence accessible and actionable for every business in every sector worldwide.

How might solutions (be):
• Intuitive with minimal training required;
• Available in multiple languages;
• Provide easy to interpret and actionable outputs;
• Require minimal nature or biodiversity expertise or scientific knowledge;
• Ready to use out of the box and with minimal set-up;
• Able to operate in limited connectivity environments;
• Accessible and manageable on a (smart) phone or other connected device; and/or
• Employ an open source, open data business model, or other innovative business model that encourages widespread adoption and accessibility?

The competition seeks to inspire and identify innovations that:
• Make nature assessments (and specifically the TNFD LEAP approach) cheaper, easier to conduct and act on,

• The innovation has reached at least an Application Readiness Level of 3 (Proof of Concept) by the application deadline and will be at Application Readiness Level of 4 (Prototype) 10 by January 2026 in order to compete in the Feedback & Testing phase of the competition.
• The innovation will be ready to be tested by potential users and customers by January 2026.

• An innovation is a new or improved product or process (or combination thereof) that differs
• significantly from the unit’s previous products or processes and that has been made available to
• potential users (product) or brought into use by the unit (process).

• For the purposes of this competition, an innovation is a process, tool, and/or a digital solution that, at a minimum, has a proof of concept by the application deadline and must have a prototype ready to be tested by potential users and customers by January 2026.

• The innovation described in the application is within the Challenge scope

• The application is submitted by an individual of at least 18 years of age, organization, business, university, association, and/or civil society group. Governments at any level are not eligible to apply.

• Multiple organizations may collaborate to submit an application, but one organization or individual must be named to assume the financial and administrative responsibility of the award.
