Short DescirptionThe Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI) announces a call for research proposals from public or private non-profit organizations established in Europe or Africa that operate within a consortium of European and African organizations. The call is part of the Regional Teachers Initiative for Africa (RTIA). The initiative is financed by the European Commission, placing teachers at the heart of the Global Gateway strategy's education investment priorities.


The research call aims to generate deeper understanding for policy and practice relevant recommendations on how teacher training and teacher wellbeing at work can be made more effective in Sub-Saharan Africa, ultimately aiming to reduce teacher shortage and attrition in Sub-Saharan Africa. The call is divided into two themes of 1) : Teacher wellbeing at work and teacher retention, shortage, and attrition and 2) Teacher professional development. Criteria(Please refer to the website for eligibility criteria)

eligible organizations are public or private non-profit organizations (universities, research institutes, research departments, I/NGOs etc.) that are established in Europe or Africa and act in a consortium.
The minimum consortium size is 1 European and 2 African partners and the maximum size for the whole consortium is 7 partners (one lead and six partners).

Eligible projects Definition:
1) a project is composed of a set of activities and producing academically relevant research.
2) Duration: The term of a project may not exceed 18 months, and it shall be completed by 31 August 2026.
3) Geographical coverage: Projects must be implemented in Sub Saharan African countries (as per the EU definition) listed on the Call Document.
4) The proposals can be single-country or multi-country proposals.
