In a bold move to accelerate solutions to one of the world’s most urgent challenges, MassChallenge Switzerland has launched the Fighting Malnutrition and Enhancing Food Security Prize. This new initiative recognizes innovative startups working to combat malnutrition, improve agrifood systems, and strengthen food security — particularly in low- and middle-income countries across the Global South.

The EUR 10,000 prize is designed to highlight and support startups whose solutions address both undernutrition and overnutrition, while improving access to safe, nutritious, and sustainable food.
The prize targets early-stage startups that are already semi-finalists in the 2025 WFF Startup Innovation Awards and that deliver innovative, scalable, and impactful solutions within the following focus areas:
• Nutritional education and behavior change
• Food accessibility in rural and underserved communities
• Sustainable agriculture and yield improvement
• Nutrient-rich local crops with climate resilience
• Food loss and waste reduction
• Digital agrifood platforms connecting farmers to markets
• Policy advocacy to support lasting change in food systems
Importantly, startups must be based in or have demonstrable impact in the Global South.
