MarLEN (Maritime Low Emission Network) will be a partnership of European ministries and funding organisations responsible for funding RTD in maritime technologies from European countries. The objective of this initiative is to strengthen the European Research Area in waterborne research by coordinating and developing synergies between national and regional maritime research programmes and policies in line with the aims of the partnership Zero Emission Waterborne Transport (ZEWT). The activities will include: exchange of information and knowledge among national programme owners and programme managers as well as the implementation of distinct joint activities.

The eligible topics are aligned with the objectives and content of the ZEWT partnership. These are divided into six overarching research and development areas: 1. Use of sustainable alternative fuels 2. Electrification 3. Energy Efficiency 4. Design & Retrofitting 5. Digital Green 6. Ports
Funding is available in all MPAs, provided the German partners are involved in research, development, and demonstration. Each funded consortium should have a lead German industrial partner, who does not necessarily have to be the consortium coordinator.
